This single family home occupies the site of a now-demolished public house, and is located in a quiet Belgravia mews within a Conservation Area.

The house was designed to sit comfortably in the context of the existing townscape and it is the interiors which capture the imagination as a  sinuous cantilevered staircase winds its way up through the floors linking Lower Ground to roof level where a glass roof slides back to give access to a hidden landscaped roof terrace.

Once through the front door, a sparkling light sculpture cascades down through the double height galleried entrance space, which leads to the stunning stone and polished plaster staircase which unwraps itself elegantly through the vertical space.  A light washed plaster relief adds further drama to the space.

Upper floors are generous in their volume, with high ceiling heights making the spaces ideal for entertaining and contributing to the overall grandeur of the house and combining well with smaller, more intimate scale rooms and giving a well balanced mix of accommodation which is entirely appropriate for family living and entertaining.

The stair drops to lower ground floor level where a cinema and wine cellar take pride of place. A  glass staircase drops from this floor and leads down to a swimming pool and gym.

The level of finish within the house is high and the attention to detail is exemplary and consistent, giving the house a sense of coherence and comfort.

Flanagan Lawrence developed all stages of the design from early feasibility stages to completion.
