Won in limited competition, we were commissioned to design two house types for a cliff and hill-top site overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in the village of Valdemossa, Mallorca to the north of the capital Palma. 

Our approach was to develop two distinct models which were driven by a response to their particular sites. 

The hill top site is approached from below, with the potential to create a series of public spaces on the ridge which frame views to the sea and to Palma. 

The cliff house is based on a traditional Mallorcan house concept – the courtyard – around which the public and private spaces are distributed.
