Elvin Gardens

Location: Wembley, London

The Alto Development sets the tone for the quality of development across Wembley, one of London’s most important regeneration projects.

Flanagan Lawrence and LDA Design created the courtyard gardens and public realm which was inspired by its powerful local heritage. Humphry Repton, the last great English landscape designer of the 18th century, widely regarded as the successor to Capability Brown, designed the original Wembley Park, and it is Repton that inspired the use of ‘borrowed’ landscape views, with hints of French and Italian formality.

The creation of a brand new London square, Elvin Square Gardens, creates an attractive public space in the heart of the urban landscape. It is part of the revitalisation master-plan to ensure that Wembley Park is one of London’s foremost lifestyle destinations. It fits with the Mayor of London’s vision of ‘lifetime neighbourhoods’ within the capital.

Elvin Square Gardens offers a landscaped garden square for the enjoyment of residents of Wembley Park. Those who visit the area will also benefit. It adds significantly to the presence of parks in Wembley Park. The pleasant green space honours the location’s heritage and reflects the rich woodland that was once present, before London’s spread ate into the original greenery.

From grassy areas for youngsters to run around to smart tree-lined boulevards, the face of Wembley Park is changing. As well as offering a host of things to do, the green spaces are a serene, calming force in the lives of local residents, perfecting the overall Wembley Park experience.

Alto Apartments has been named Development of the Year at Property Week’s 2018 RESI Awards.
