Modular Aquaponics in the RWA Open Exhibition

This week it was confirmed that Flanagan Lawrence have had an artwork selected for display in the Royal West of England Academy’s Open Exhibition. The piece is based on our Modular Aquaponics project, and will be on display for the duration of the exhibition, 7th October to 25th November, at the RWA in Bristol.

The Royal West of England Academy’s Open Exhibition is an annual event, now in its 166th year. Anyone can enter their work to the show, with categories including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and architecture. All work is for sale, and the exhibition draws a wide ranging international crowd of artists and visitors.

The Modular Aquaponics project is an integrated vertical agricultural system to wrap onto the south facades of industrial sheds in suburban areas. Relying on a mutual beneficial symbiotic relationship between a host structure and the agricultural system, the project seeks to provide a method of producing food sustainably in an urban context, with minimum land or resource use, while enhancing biodiversity.
