11-15 Grosvenor Crescent
11-15 Grosvenor Crescent is now nearing completion. The refurbishment and re-modelling of the original buildings sees a series of exceptional apartments spread across both the original buildings, and a beautifully crafted extension in the mews at the rear.
Landsby, Wembley Park
The Landsby apartments, our latest residential projects in Wembley, are nearing completion. The first completed block was handed over to the client in September. Comprising 187 contemporary PRS apartments, this continues our work with Quintain to provide high quality homes and vibrant communities for a new generation of renters. 50% of the apartments were pre-let and residents started to move in on the day of handover. Its sister building, which faces Olympic Way, will be completed in December.
100 Embankment, Greengate
Earlier this year our 101 Embankment office scheme in Manchester was honoured with an RIBA North West Award. Following that success, 100 Embankment has now started on site and is progressing well. The new building will complete our work on the regeneration of the Greengate area.
56 Shepherd’s Bush Green
The latest project for Dorsett Hospitality starts on site soon. 56 Shepherd’s Bush Green sits next to and integrates with our award-winning Hotel in Shepherd’s Bush Pavilion. It will provide serviced apartments, a restaurant and entertainment facilities and incorporates the 1923 façade of the original Cinematograph.
Laidlaw Music Centre, University of St Andrews
The Laidlaw Music Centre at the University of St Andrews is now underway, with construction having started last month. The project milestone was reported in the Architects’ Journal. The scheme will provide the university and the wider community with state-of-the-art rehearsal and recording facilities.
The Fire Station Auditorium, Sunderland
The Fire Station Auditorium in Sunderland is currently out to tender and is expected to start on site in early 2019. The new auditorium is extremely flexible, designed to accommodate audiences of 450 people seated or 750 people standing. It has been designed to work equally well for amplified music or a natural acoustic – for the staging of drama, dance or comedy – and conference events. The venue will be instrumental in the creation of the Music and Cultural Quarter in Sunderland’s Civic Edwardian core.
Our recently unveiled research project, Modular Aquaponics, has had a busy month – Senior Associate Director (Research & Development) Paul Bavister presented the project at the Activating Biophilic Cities conference at Greenwich University, and an artwork based on the project has been selected for the Royal West of England Academy’s Open Exhibition, where it will be displayed through October and November. The Aquaponics scheme is a system that can be attached to host buildings, providing food for the surrounding urban environment in a sustainable, cost effective manner. The project has also been chosen to be featured by the UK Green Building Council as ‘a leadership example of buildings being adapted to a changing climate.’
World Architecture Festival
Design Director Jason Flanagan and Senior Associate Director (R&D) Paul Bavister will be attending this year’s World Architecture Festival (WAF) as awards judges. Held in Amsterdam this year, the WAF awards are the highlight of the week-long festival, which brings together architects from around the world.
